SPECIAL NOTES: The following WABC in-house memo was issued and
dated 16 August 1977: "WABC Radio joins the world in mourning the
death of the king of rock and roll, Elvis Presley. At 9PM
tonight, WABC will present a one hour special devoted to
remembering Elvis and his music. Father Peter Madori and George
Michael will host this commercial-free special.
"For the rest of the week, please schedule one Elvis Presley
record per hour, until further notice. These records will be in
the small cart rack in 8-A where the Q&T music is kept. [The "Q&T
music" was a category of music - "Quiet and Transitional" - that
WABC had on hand to play during any emergency situation they felt
warranted an alteration of the on-air music. Events such as the
deaths of national figures or other national or world tragedies.
8-A refers to the production studio.]
"While Elvis Presley's death is a tragedy in the history of rock
and roll, his music will never die. Please handle all of your
remarks relating to Elvis' death with all due respect, but keep it
positive and upbeat, remembering him for his greatness.
"Thank you,
"Glenn Morgan"
The news wire from 16 August 1977, sent at 6:13PM, was attached to
this memo.

Unless otherwise noted, songs without a number assigned to them
(excluding LPs) are in an in-house category labeled "New Library."
