The Musicradio WABC Fan Picnic in Central Park

On Sunday, September 27 1998 we had a picnic in Central Park......

Joe Tedd, Joel J., and Bryan Durr organized it. Thanks guys!

Thanks also to Henry Cotterill for these pictures!

It was billed as the "First Annual WABC Picnic" but we were happy to let the WMCA fans in!

Peter Kanze (l) and Allan Sniffen hold up an original Good Guy's Banner from the famous 1966 WMCA Picnic! At our picnic the WMCA Good Guys got along very well with the WABC All Americans!

We had to have someone with a Good Guys Sweatshirt holding up the Good Guys banner so we drafted Greg Lance who had his on!

We had a great turnout and it was fun meeting many of the people most of us had only met through e mail. We had people come from as far away as Israel and as close as New York City. We talked about everything from Harry Harrison on WMCA to Harry Harrison on WABC to Harry Harrison on WCBS-FM (which covers almost 40 years of radio)!

Many of us had our WABC $25,000 Buttons, Jay Sorensen had his WNBC button, Joe Tedd had his PAMS shirt, Greg Lance had his original Good Guys Sweatshirt and Terry Morgan had his WABC Good Guys shirt (no, that's not a misprint... Terry always reminds us that WABC had "The Good Guys" first!).

Peter Kanze supplied the WMCA "Picnic Banner". It is an original from his vast radio memorabilia collection and was used the day of the famous WMCA Good Guys Picnic back in July of 1966.

Here's what it looked like back then:

It was a fun day.

Lots of memories, good conversations and tons of radio talk.

It doesn't get any better than that!

I missed a couple of names here... sorry! I met so many people that day that I don't remember all of the names. If I missed yours, please e mail me and let me know. Thanks!
