and... LOTS of transistor radios!
In the Spring of 1968, WABC asked listeners to donate
transistor radios to be shipped to GI's in Viet Nam.
Over 5,000 radios were mailed to WABC as part of a promotion called "Operation Radio".
On April 16, 1968 the radios were displayed on stage at the
Madison Square Garden Felt Forum.
The picture above is from that event.

is sad to report that WABC DJ Ron Lundy passed away on March 15. There is no fan of
Musicradio WABC or WCBS-FM who doesn't remember Ron. Ron retired to
Mississippi where he occasionally was heard calling in to WCBS-FM and WABC This web site will
never forget Ron as he was such a huge part of Musicradio WABC Ron on WABC, December 1969
In recent years, Ron was
interviewed by August 5, 2006 June 9, 2007

Last week was a tough
week for Musicradio WABC fans.
Ron was such a huge part of WABC that his loss left a huge hole.
Condolences streamed in from across the country on the New York Radio Message
Board and elsewhere.
Rewound Radio dedicated the weekend to Ron Lundy shows and fans responded in big
numbers.
Mark Simone did a very nice
tribute to Ron on his WABC Saturday Night Show.
