I don't know why some of the literally thousands
of "quick" one liners I heard from Dan Ingram
have stayed with me all these years, but one that has,
for no reason other than it made me laugh then and
makes me smile now to remember it, was when he was
introducing the "disco" song TURN THE BEAT AROUND,
and, sotto voiced as always, he added just as the
singing was about to begin "...and while you're at it
rotate the cucumber!"
I was working at ADVENTURELAND in Farmingdale at the
time and the music tape they played (ALL DAY!)
included that song, which meant I heard it about 12
times a day...it was weeks before I could hear it
without trying to suppress a smile because of that
line!
