Bob Dayton worked at WABC from 1963 until 1965.
Like Dan Ingram, he arrived at WABC from WIL in St. Louis
where he worked under the air name "Rockin' Robin Scott".
Bob did the midday show on WABC coming on after
"The Breakfast Club" at 11AM
and preceding Dan Ingram who came on at 2 PM.
Known for his acerbic wit, Bob tended to push
the limits of acceptable humor for the times
and he found himself at odds with WABC programming guru Rick Sklar on a number of occasions.
After WABC, Bob worked in Los Angeles
at KBLA before returning to
New York City where he worked at both WPIX-FM and WCBS-FM.
Unfortunately, Bob Dayton died in 1995.

We have a new Dan Ingram aircheck from
December 26, 1963.
This is relatively early in Dan's career at WABC and is a great example of what
WABC sounded like at that time.
Note the WABC Chime is present... but not part of a jingle.
And speaking of jingles... the PAMS Series 26 "All American" jingles sound
great.
There's a great Howard Cosell promo on this aircheck where he pokes fun at Dan!
You can hear Dan in his early WABC years as he
perfects some of the trademark elements that would later make him famous.
And... from the trivia department, note that it's the week between Christmas and
New Years yet
WABC is not broadcasting the Top 100 of The Year!

If you were a visitor to the WABC studios at 1330 Avenue of the Americas in 1970,
you saw this as you stepped off the elevator on the eighth floor:
