The photo is from a very early Beatles press conference,
not sure of the date.
The WABC mic logo is front and center.
I was given an original print, framed with a plaque thanking me for battling the
ABC corporate legal department
back in the late '70s to allow us to broadcast an exclusive of a new Beatles
album.
I believe it was their Hollywood Bowl LP.
After hours of negotiating lasting into the night with me talking to our legal
people and record company execs,
I finally got approval from ABC legal.
We dusted off the old W-A-Beatle-C jingles and it was just like the old days.
And... speaking of those "old days":

Thirty years ago this week...
"The Day The Music Died"

Three Decades.
It's hard to believe... especially for those of us who grew up and idolized WABC
and the people who worked there.
During the years we actually listened, anything "30 years old" seemed
prehistoric.
Yet now, here we are.
Rewound Radio will commemorate "The Day The
Music Died" this weekend as part of our "DJ Hall Of Fame Show".
We will present Dan Ingram and Ron Lundy's final show, in its entirety, starting
at Noon (EDT) on Saturday.
It's a show the features a lot of WABC history as well as the famous "Musicradio
WABC Remembrance" music medley.
And, of course, it includes the final song ever played on Musicradio WABC.
We're then going to follow it up with the
finest over air Musicradio WABC tribute show ever presented.
It was produced by WNEW-FM's Earle Bailey in May of 1982 and it too will be
uncut.
Between the two shows, we'll have over four hours of memories and radio history.
Fans of the station probably have heard parts
of these programs before but there's something special
about listening to shows like this in "real time" along with other fans who are
also listening.
Somehow, it adds to the experience.
So, transport yourself back thirty years with Rewound Radio this coming Saturday.

been a part of the WABC Rewound Shows!
This year's Rewound will feature over 120 actual recordings!

WABC Rewound 2012 was a lot of fun!
Rewound
Radio presented WABC Musicradio airchecks for three days to hundreds and
hundreds of listeners!
It was a fun Memorial Day weekend... and you gave our bandwidth a good workout.
Imagine that... a 1960's/70's AM radio station
brought back to life with 2012 technology.
You know what they say... you can't keep a great radio station down!
It was terrific to see so many names we've
known for years on Facebook as well as so many new friends.
Radio should be fun... and this weekend it was!
