One aspect of the record releases this season is the considerable number of oldies or revivals. I dont mean those hardy perennials known in the trade as standards, but those one time smash its that have been dead for 10, 20 or even 30 years! A good example is Billy, popular some 2 decades ago and now on the way up again via Kathy Linden. Several revivals have even made the WMCA list! They were and are good songs, and their appeal is not entirely nostalgic -- to the younger listeners theyre new tunes.
