SPECIAL NOTES: "They're Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa!" by
Napoleon XIV (on the Warner Brothers label) generated massive
amounts of protest in New York and elsewhere. The protests mostly
came from the mental health community. Both New York Top 40
stations (WABC and WMCA) banned the song; WABC doing so when the
song reached its peak position. WABC continued to list the song
as it declined on the survey, and its position was noted on the
air during Cousin Brucie's Top 20 countdown on Tuesday evenings,
but it never again received airplay.

WABC partially lifted its Beatles ban (begun the previous week),
with the restoration of "Yesterday" and album cut "Michelle" to
oldies rotation. The ban was implemented in reaction to a
statement in an interview where John Lennon allegedly said that
the Beatles were more popular than Jesus Christ (a statement most
now agree was taken out of context). Note that the songs exempted
from the ban this week featured vocals by Paul McCartney.
