The Summer of '74 was very special to me. I was 14 and
remember we were driving through Central Washington on a
hot August day, with the windows rolled down and the AM
radio turned up as we made our way to the World's Fair in
Spokane.
Five years later, when I went to work in radio, I played
these three songs in a row in recognition of that great
time!

I had to break them down into three categories because there are so many:
1. Instrumental: "Wonderland By Night", Bert Kaempfert, 1960
2. Vocal: "Strangers in the Night", Frank Sinartra, 1966
3. Rock: Whole Lotta Love, Led Zeppelin, 1970

Sorry to qualify this, but this list changes ALL the time for me. But right now, my three favorite songs of all time are:
1 - This Old Heart Of Mine - The Isley Brothers (one of the
all-time GREAT Motown unrequited love songs. "If
you leave me a hundred times, a hundred times I'll
take you back" - remember when you actually felt that
way about someone?)
2 - Pleasant Valley Sunday - The Monkees (a truly great
vocal performance by Micky Dolenz and an underrated
guitar intro by Mike Nesmith)
3 - Daytripper - The Beatles (go ahead...TRY to pick a
favorite Beatles song...I dare ya! We Can Work It Out
is right up there too, but the guitar lick and the "ahs"
during the guitar solo get me EVERY time!)
